Since I launched the Hibernate Performance Tuning Online Training for the first time, I got a lot of emails asking me for a training that focuses on basic JPA and Hibernate features. Today, I’m happy to finally announce the beta group for the upcoming JPA for Beginner’s Online Training.
This self-paced, online training is for you, if you are new to JPA or if you have already used it in a project but never got a proper, structured introduction to the different concepts, mappings, and query-capabilities. You will learn everything you need to know to implement a persistence layer with JPA and Hibernate or EclipseLink as its most popular implementations. The lectures and exercises will guide you in an easy to follow, step-by-step approach from being a complete beginner to being able to implement your first persistence layer.
After completing this training, you will know:
- The basic concepts of object-relational mapping
- The difference between JPA and its implementations Hibernate and EclipseLink
- How to bootstrap and configure your application
- How JPA’s entity lifecycle states and transitions trigger your database operations
- How to map the most common table models with basic entity and attribute mappings
- How to model associations between your entities
- How to write queries with JPQL
If that sounds like the right training for you, you can apply below to become a member of the Beta Group or join the waiting list to get notified in a few weeks, when the JPA for Beginner’s Online Training is available.
The launch of the Beta Group
I’m still working on some of the course materials but most of the lecture videos are recorded and edited, the example project is uploaded and I designed dozens of exercises. So, it’s about time to get real user feedback. If you have some time to spare in the next 2-3 weeks and want to join the JPA for Beginner’s Online Training, I have an interesting offer for you:
You can join the Beta Group of the Certification Class of the JPA for Beginner’s Online Training for just $89 instead of $149 (additional discounts to compensate for different purchasing powers might apply). By joining the Beta Group, you will get early access to all course lectures, examples project, exercises and a participation certificate. And when I officially launch the training, you will, of course, also get access to the final version of the JPA for Beginner’s Online Training.
As a member of the Beta Group, I expect you to watch all the lectures and do all exercises within the next 2-3 weeks and to provide your feedback on them. Depending on your experience, I expect that it will take you 12-16 hours to do that. When you provide your feedback, please tell me how long it took you to do the exercises, if all lectures were easy to understand and if there is anything that I could improve.
Sounds interesting? Then please fill out the following form. I will pick 10 beta group members by September 1st. And please be honest about your time commitment and experience level. I want to get a good mix of different experience levels and will select multiple people from each group.
